It’s fair to say we all are a little attached to our mobile devices these days, but American women may be a little more keen to their smartphones and tablets than men.Given the choice, the majority of the women in the U.S. said they would rather give up sex than their mobile device for a week, according to a survey. Fifty-seven percent of U.S. women would choose their mobile device over sex, according to a survey released Wednesday by AVG Technologies, an Internet security and optimization company. In fact, women are becoming increasingly detached from their relationships as they become more attached to their smartphones and tablets, the study suggests. The survey, conducted in April, questioned 4,000 women in the United States, Britain, Canada, France, Germany and Brazil. No margin of error was given.
Relationship or Mobile Device
Of the women surveyed around the globe, more than 50 percent said they either had or would end a relationship with a phone call, while more than a quarter of respondents said they would break up via a text message. But women aren’t just using their mobile devices to call it quits. Women in the survey also said they are tapping into social media to screen dates and snoop on their significant other.
Women in the U.S. ranked the highest in using social networking sites like Facebook to check out love prospects, but women in Brazil take it a bit further, the survey suggests. Sixty-one 61 percent of ladies in Brazil have canceled a date based on what they gathered from social channels and 18 percent will go as far to break off a relationship on Facebook. Ouch.
